Bigger Families; Faces From the Past

I don't know anyone but myself who has long awaited any additions to this picture blog, but isn't it best to assume the positive? Here are some photos from various genealogy or other sites. These are just thumbnails to tempt you. Clicking on the photo or on the link I give should link you to the family's site, to the page where the photo is. Upon reading a little further, I came up with these interesting points about this Dutch family. There were 19 children; two were born after this photo. Their given names were actually much more "interesting" than the ones under the photo. They are very Latin sounding. There were 60 grandchildren, from 9 of the children in the photo. This is a photo I purchased from Ebay recently. When I first scanned it, Blogspot had a glitch and wouldn't add it. Now I've put the photo away and will have to find it to see if there is any more info on the back. For the moment, all I know is that this is the Wade family.

As always, click the picture above to see it larger. I love the two sets of matching girls' dresses. To me, the matching girls on the left look facially similar enough to be identical twins. There is no identification on the photo, but the photographer was Wolfenden, in Sheldon, Iowa (IA). If anyone familiar with that town recognizes this large and very handsome family, please let me know!

I have been doing some shopping, and over the next few weeks I should have lots and lots of photos to add. Here is a lovely photo of a large wooden house with a family in front, taken January 18th, 1911. There are seven younger children and four adults. I don't know if they are two families or one with relatives, workers, or visitors. I think the children are all one family because of how and where they are sitting and standing, but that's just my opinion. It was a photo postcard sent from Miss Evangeline Huling to Miss Carrie B. Fox. So my guess is this is the Huling family. Here is a closeup of the people. Click to see it nice and HUGE!

This is the Bud Johnson family of Pike County, Arkansas. Names are on the photo itself. One son remains unlisted. Imagine how humiliating it would be to get those photos back and have no option for a retake.
